Christmas Open House
My Christmas Decorations are up!
Decorating for Christmas is one tradition that I will probably never skip or simplify. I really enjoy creating a Christmasy atmosphere in our home. I start decorating the day after Thanksgiving, and work on it when I can. I have a lot of fun decorations, mostly because my DH's family loves to give them as gifts, many of them homemade. It took longer this year than normal, probably because I'm pregnant and Elsie hasn't been sleeping well, so I've been a bit more tired than usual. Here are some of the results:
(My mother made this quilt. My husband made the bed for us one year for our anniversary.)
I enjoyed when everyone shared their Autumn decorations with me, so I thought it would be fun to share Christmas decorations, as well! Post images of your decor on your blog and link to it here, and we'll all come visit! I'm starting the links off with my favorite non-blog site for inspiration: the photo gallery at the Colonial Williamsburg website. Someday I will be visiting that place at Christmas time!
And if you haven't been able to decorate much this year, I want to share with you the words a wise friend shared with me when I lamented about how long it was taking me to finish decorating: "It only takes hanging one wreath to let people know you are a Christian. And if you don't put up many decorations, you are giving the gift of making your neighbor's decorations look better."
So, grab some hot chocolate and some sugar cookies and enjoy some sights of the season!
UPDATE: Boo Mama has started a Holiday Home Tour. She has tons of readers, so if you want to visit the jackpot of Christmas decoration pictures, be sure to click on her link!

I don't have my decorations up yet, but I'll put a link in when I do! :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Your house looks so beautful! Do you paint walls every time you decorate? Ha ha. J.K. Your decorations just always match your walls! :)
ReplyDeleteyour bed looks so beautiful!! I want to do that.
ReplyDeleteI'll post my decorations when I am home :)
Cute decorations! I have always loved those snowmen that are by your sink. I love your decorated bed too. I usually put lights and a pine garland across my head board, but didn't do it this year. It must be a lot more fun to decorated a poster bed. I will put up pictures of my decorations when I figure out how do download them from my new camera.
ReplyDeleteYour home looks beautiful - and that bed/quilt/bedroom decoration? WOW!

ReplyDeleteYour decorations look beautiful - I especially love that you have your bedrooms coordinated for the season, too!
ReplyDeleteIt's got to be the pregnancy that is slowing me down, too. I usually have all of our decorations up and the house in lovely Christmas shape by the first weekend of December. Currently, there are boxes everywhere ... Poinsettias on our table still in their wrapping ... and only 1/2 the lights are up around the house.
You've inspired me to finish what I've started. I'm just going to close my eyes for a few minutes before I begin again ... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :)
What wonderful decorations. I'll have to get some to share as soon as I finish my decorating.
ReplyDeleteLove the decorations.
ReplyDeleteI'm supposed to be decorating right now...yep, look at me go! lol I think I'm going to get that "I'm giving the gift of making my neighbors decorations look better" made into a lawn sign...nah, than I'd have to put it up! ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful home! Great job.
ReplyDeleteI have my holiday pics up on my blog, but I can't seem to get my link to work on Mister Linky. I wonder if it is something with my computer that blocks me from doing it. Will you add it to your list for me? Thanks.
